Cards =)

In this experiment I have found that the older the card gets the more jokes it makes about ones memory. When I was in the store looking at the cards I found a lot of cards for the younger ages and then once they started to get older the age groups strarted to skip around. It was like the 40 year old ones had sayings like "wow your over the hill" and then once they hit 60 it was "OMG your old!!"
The theory's of aging and aging cards are similar in many ways. The cards are more relaxed as well as the theories. All the cards that I found when I went to look for them they said how it was time to relax and time to enjoy life and make the best of what you have and the path that you chose for yourself. The theory of despair is avoided in both cards and as well as the theory of development. One does not Fear the fact that there is too little time to begin a new life path. As well as wisdom is developed once you grow older and develop. The cards mentions one's wisdom as well as the theory states that. The cards that I have read does not make statments of regretting the life that they has lived.
Another thing that I have noticed is that the cards start to say that its time to slow down as the age goes up. Start to take more time off and enjoy life more, this is called the Disengagment theory. With this however there is the fact that an older person needs to stay active in order to age well and healthily. Everyone ages differently, in different ways as well as this they view it differently too.  With this I feel that this is the reason why some cards are more serious than others. You will find a serious card, maybe a religious one, or maybe a funny one. And each and every person likes a different one. I like more of a funny one. But then my boyfriend likes to get more of a serious one that is so sincere that you start to cry. We were at Wall Mart the other day getting his dad a birthday card. I picked one out that was not serious at all and then he came up with one that was so serious I got goose bumps!! But it was so true, It explained how awesome his dad is and how he is always there for him and everything else like that. I think that the cards that you pick out is how you developed, how you were brought up. I was brought up with my parents being there but not really for me, like he was so all though these cards are great but I just can't relate to them like Chase can so it is harder for me to pick out a serious cards. I like to stick to the Harley Davidson cards for my dad and the flowers for my mom cause that is what I grew up with and I know that's what my parents like and what they and I can relate too. Over all I really enjoyed this activity and it was really different than what we usually do in this class which is a good thing!! Hope we can have more!!

blog time assignment #2

             In the very first chapter we read, I learned about the biosychososocial approach, which gave me a more understanding of ones behavior or mental process. In the second chapter that we read, thinking critically with psychological science I learned about the hindsight bias. The hindsight bias is knowing something all along. Not doing something but that once something happenes because you didnt do what you should have done then you know you should have taken care of the problem before it happened. For an example not locking your doors when not at home but once you get robbed you know you should have locked them. Then the last chapter we went through would be the Nature, Nurture, adn Human Diversity. In this one we learned about the variations within cultures. Many cultures are different from one another. In the book it states that in Arab societies men greet each other with a kiss but its not that way in western societies. Each culture group creates their own norm.
              The biopsyosocial approach I can use that to understand the reason why one might be rude to another student or why one might perform a crime. I might not be so judgmental to ones actions. In the hindsight bias I can see that all the time. For instanmce when I think that something is going to happen I can take care of the problem before it happens. Think critically of the situation and of my choices that I may have at the time. And then the variations within cultures that is a huge and obvious one!! The reason that we are at war right now is cause we don't believe in another cultures ways. To me it makes no difference what they want to do, yeah it's not right the way they treat their woman but they are in their culture and we are in ours.
           The most intriguing  thing that I have learned this sememster is psychology I think would probably have to be hindsight bias. I think that hindsight bias is a pretty cool thing because I never really thought that there was a science behind knowing things before they even happen. Now, when something happens and I know that it was going to happen, I can say "I knew that was going to happen" and there is always someone to douubt you and respond back with "no you didn't". Well now I can back it up and say "yeah I did and it's called hindsight bias!!" Although its not the same as going with your instincts!! The things I wil learn in Psychology! =)
            A couple questions that I am left with is that we know parents are a huge impact on the childrens upbringing but there has to be more, for instance I know a family of 7 and the majority of the kids are really good and go by what their parents say. They all have the same parents and the same enviroment. Then some of the kids are not so good and tend to act out. So that means that there has to be more that influnces a kid than just parents and enviroment. What is that something else?
           Psychological science is a great thing but where and how did it get started?
           In chapter one it says how wording affects the way you look at it and precieve it, well everything can't be worded jsut right for everyone, how do we "please" everyone?

introduction from a psychological view point =)

Hey all, I am very religious and the way that I became the person that I have become today is b going to church all the time. Another way that I have become the person I am today was by moving around all the time. When I was in 8th grade I was home schooled, like a charter school. I had to send in all my assignments and had to be very responsible. I didn’t have any one telling time to get them done and sending them in for me. Then after being home schooled for a year I was sent to live with my aunt in Marshfield. She got up really early to go to work so that means that I had to get up on my own and catch the bus which came at 6 in the morning.  So I had to be very responsible in that way, and still today I’d have to say I’m for the most part mature and responsible as far as homework and school goes.  When it comes to school I like to learn by doing. I am a very hands on person. Another way that I learn well is by reading. I love to read.  I can’t really say I have had any social impacts. I was very sheltered as a kid. But some ways that the society impacts a kid is by peer pressure. Or the advertisements they see on TV.  Also the role models they look up to that are in Hollywood. Not very good ones to say the least, although there are some good ones too.
            I remember well when it gets repeated to me. I have the farthest thing from photographic memory. I need things to be repeated to me. I can remember places or what I have to do for a class, I can’t remember years. Like what year something happened I cant remember and that is why I’m not very good at History.
            On reason that I think that we like the things we like is because its part of what we grew up with. If you grow up in a city you probably aren’t going to go buy a farm and start milking cows. Odds are you stay in the city and get a job there. It’s the same for a country folk. If you have lived on a farm or just out in the country you probably wont like all the stuff that’s going on in the city.
            I’m not a very physically skilled person.  I can shoot hoops but I can’t play basketball. I can’t dribble the ball and watch where I’m going at the same time. It takes a lot of coordination to do them kinds of things!! A reason that some people might be good at such sports as these is cause they practice and are born with coordination. Coordination is not something that you go to bed praying for and then wake up with. Its somewhere in your blood line and genetics.
